Why Moving Rates Vary with Time

Why Moving Rates Vary with Time

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to moving; every case is unique and based upon the individuals’ needs that are moving. The process of moving is fluid and ever changing depending on the needs of the client. However, the cost of moving is another evolving part of the process. Moving rates vary greatly throughout the course of a year and are dependent upon several different factors. Having a better, general idea of the factors that affect moving rates are helpful to know so that you can plan your move accordingly, or at the very least know what to expect when the big day comes. Moving rates vary with time because some of the factors that affect the cost are also in constant fluctuation. Here are some of the most basic reasons why moving rates vary with time: Gas prices The price of gas is in a constant fluctuating state. Furthermore, various states are affected differently by gas costs, making it important to research the cost of gas in other states you could potentially be moving to. Moving trucks can use up a lot of gas on the road—even more gas is used in heavier trucks. One of the ways that moving companies typically fix their costs is based on how heavy your items are collectively. Heavier trucks carrying more objects and belongings use more gas, and this will likely be factored into your moving estimate and costs. Be sure to ask your specific moving company how they factor gas costs into the process. In order to lessen the cost of your move, you can eliminate as many objects from your...
What to Look For When Hiring an Interstate Mover in California

What to Look For When Hiring an Interstate Mover in California

Choosing the right moving company can be the first step involved in what can be a messy, complicated process—especially if you don’t have access to need-to-know information about your movers beforehand. Movers in Southern California areas like Santa Clarita often have to travel far distances to get to their destination locations—whether you are moving across the county or across state lines, finding the right moving company can feel overwhelming, but is essential to the overall success of the process. Interstate movers located in California aren’t always familiarized with the areas they move to, which is why it is important to do research ahead of time on prospective moving companies who can help make it go a little more smoothly. Knowing what to look for is critical in order to find a reputable, trustworthy moving company, so here are a few suggestions on what to look for when hiring an interstate mover in California: License & insurance The company you choose should be properly licensed and insured to pull of a long distance move. In order to perform local moves, the business must be licensed in the state they conduct their business. A company’s state licensure will likely be somewhat different than their interstate licensure to move to certain states—check out the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s guidelines for moving companies, and verify that the prospective company is registered through their website. There are designated rules and regulations that all moving companies must abide by, so look for any red flags about potential violations that are documented in the company’s history. While this doesn’t always indicate a company’s reliability accurately,...

Useful Tips to Move Your Motorcycle Safely

Moving is a complicated process that involves a lot of tough decision-making. This process can be further complicated if you have a motorcycle that requires moving. If you are not familiar with moving a bike, you should look into the various ways that it can be done. Depending on how far the journey is, you may be able to drive the bike there in stages, saving you a bit of money in the long run. However, one of the best, most efficient, and least complex ways to go is to hire a moving company that is skilled and experienced in moving motorcycles and other vehicles safely. Some people also opt for moving their motorcycle themselves in a trailer; this is a viable option, although it is important that you are familiar with what safety precautions to take, particularly because your bike could become significantly damaged due to poor planning. Here are some useful tips to move your motorcycle as safely as possible. Check options for motorcycle move Firstly, you should look for all of the options in your area for moving your motorcycle so that you can find the best fit for your specific situation. Moving requires a lot of considerations and complex logistical planning that takes time to prepare for, especially if you have a large collection of books. Books are heavy and take up a lot of box space, making them especially difficult to move from one location to the next. If you are currently attempting to figure out the best way to move a ton of books, it’s important that you consider a few tips that will help make the job a whole lot easier. Moving is a huge undertaking; it requires a lot of pre-planning and research beforehand in order to make sure the move goes well. Movers who do not plan end up suffering in the end, so it is in your best interest to look into all of your options ahead of time, and never wait till the last minute to figure out a plan. A lot of movers don’t realize that moving and storage go hand-in-hand; renting a self-storage unit for a period of time is one way to help relieve some stress during a move, and is an efficient way to hold belongings that you are unsure what to do with. There are wide ranges of options when it comes to storage units, but what you end up deciding upon will rest heavily on what your specific needs are during the time of the move. By renting a storage unit, you may be saving yourself time and money in the long run. Sometimes moving dates aren’t always convenient for everyone—they often don’t coincide with rental agreements and wind up creating issues for movers. By renting a storage unit, you can have someplace to keep your items instead of spending another month’s rent. How you go about renting a unit is determined by necessity. Make a list of all your items When you decide to go for a storage unit, you will first need to make a list of all the items you want to store in there. The reason we chose Watford Moving & Storage was in one word - Daniel O'Brien - well maybe that's 2 or 3 words. If you'd like to deal with a moving dealer or representative, then call another firm. If you'd like your move handled by the owner of the moving company, then call Daniel O'Brien. Daniel was prompt, professional, personal and really did a near-perfect job in moving my wife and me from Calabasas to The Villages, Florida. In addition, Daniel coordinated the move of my parents larger home in the same moving van to Florida as well - all without a hitch. The Watford moving men were were hard working and honest, telling us when they made a mistake. As important, the same men who gathered our belongings on one end delivered them on them on the other . . . helps with pride of ownership of the job. Anyway, if you must move from beautiful Southern California then you need look no further . . . these are your guys.
